Spirit Yachts, MD Nigel Stuart to keynote Superyacht UK Technical Seminar

Off the back of their announcement of the first fully electric yacht, Nigel Stuart, Managing Director of Spirit Yachts will now keynote the Superyacht UK Technical Seminar with a talk on ‘Sustainable sailing: a goal with no compromise.’ Nigel will outline the environmental challenges currently faced by the industry and the collaborative approach needed to secure longevity for the sector.

Also speaking at the Seminar, a representative of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency will provide an update on the IPV Code which was launched at the start of 2019, discussing how the Code affects the superyacht industry and reduces burdens.

Ken Hickling from Sherpa 63 and Paul Miller from Hiscox will give a joint talk on the development of a new ISO standard looking at the non-destructive testing of large yacht composite masts. Followed by an address on the vital advancement meeting IMO standards on composites fire protection on vessels over 500GT from Tom Royle of Wizz Consultancy.

There will be notable key updates from industry experts on the latest regulatory and standardisation developments over the past 12 months. This includes an in-depth brief on new ISO standards from Jo Assael, Chair of ISO TC8 SC12, and a discussion led by a representative of the Cayman Islands Shipping Register on the new Red Ensign Group Code, which was launched at the beginning of the year.

To round off the day, delegates will be invited to attend the networking popular Superyacht UK drinks reception which takes place directly following the Seminar and provides an invaluable networking opportunity.
